What Is ESIC Registration?
The registration is mandatory for your establishment under ESIC (Employee State Insurance Scheme) if the number of employees exceeds then 10 or on voluntary basis.
The scheme provides full medical cover to the employee registered under the ESI Act, 1948 during the period of his incapacity, restoration of his health and working capacity.
It provides financial assistance to compensate for the loss of his/ her wages during the period of his absenteeism due to sickness, maternity and employment injury. This scheme provides medical claim to his/her family members also. Online ESIC registration is compulsory for entities employing, employees earning Rs. 21,000/- or less.”

Yes, the bifurcation is like that The employee’s contribution is 1.75% of wages, rounder to next higher rupee. Employer’s contribution is 4.75% of wages payable to each employee, rounded off to next higher rupee. Wages include basic pay, dearness allowance, city compensatory allowance, payment of day of rest, overtime wages, house rent allowance, incentive allowance, attendance bonus, meal allowance and incentive bonus.
Employees drawing salary less then Rs 21,000/- are elegible to deduct ESIC from salary
An employee needs to get the ESIC Form-9 to make a claim in case of sickness/temporary disablement/maternity benefit as provided by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation, Ministry of Labour and Employment.
